I am running Meta AI and ChatGPT4 side by side, and they are very comparable. Sometimes Meta AI generates better results, and it is so fast. I am considering canceling my subscription to save $20 per month.
One thing I just remembered during the teeth extraction: I had a bunch of tools in front of my face, and at some point, I started worrying they would drop some tool in my eyes. I noticed the assistant had protective glasses, and I was trying to ask for those glasses, but nobody was able to understand what I wanted. 😂
I just came back from the wisdom teeth removal procedure. I am still in kind of twilight zone, but while the memory is fresh, I want to share my experience. After all the paperwork, I got a mouthwash, and then sat on the surgical chair. They put a device to measure the blood pressure; it was high, but it is my normal body reaction to situations when I am visiting the doctor.
The doctor on my right-hand side inserted an IV. They made a couple of injections in my cheek. He was asking some interesting questions, and I am not sure if he actually asked them - for example, about my experience when I had surgery at the age of 1.5 years old. So I said they put a mask, and then I woke up in the bed, and had some separation anxiety because my mom was not allowed to be next to me, and then she brought me dumplings, and it was the best food I had in my life.
After the surgery, the doctor asked what I thought - how long the procedure was. I said 20 minutes, and he said it was a whole hour. And then he asked me what day it is today; I said, “I think it is Friday.” The whole deal took one and a half hours, including paperwork and talking.
The llama.cpp developers and maintainers are rocking and rolling. Yesterday at night, I updated the code, and it’s so fast. I changed the backend from CUBLAS to CUDA, and it’s much faster. Great job, guys!

However, I’m a bit skeptical about one part: tartar removal or dental cleaning. I have a ‘scam alert’ ringing in my brain—maybe it’s a bit over-tuned. I asked her about the benefits of dental cleaning, and honestly, I’m not convinced. Do you have any opinions?
I see some misunderstanding about my short post regarding avoiding the creation of your own game launcher. I made it from the point of view of the player. A game launcher is additional friction to get into the game; usually, you need to create an account and it requires an extra click.
Another aspect is that game launchers usually have way less polish, and while the game may run perfectly, the game launcher crashes all the time. One of the examples is the pain with the Blizzard launcher. The games run perfectly, but multiple times the launcher had issues running on Linux under Lutris.
Multiple game studios publish their games on Steam, so I need to run Steam. Then, instead of running Sims IV directly, it runs Origin, does some patches, and forces me to log in on EA. Dude, I just want to play the game.
So, if you are a new studio, publish your game on existing platforms: Steam, Epic Store, itch.io. Don’t make your own launcher.

I thought about misinformation and cancellation waves on social media, and I think the fundamental problem is that social media platforms are optimized to maximize engagement—to increase the amount of likes, views, comments—this min/max function. If we had an algorithm that could measure the truthfulness of the content and promote that content, that may fix the issue with misinformation.
Also, I thought about humanity’s goals, like how Elon Musk is focused on survival. I think this is important because it indirectly supports the bigger goal of maximizing happiness. Dead people cannot be happy.
Additionally, I want to point out that minimizing suffering and maximizing happiness are slightly different goals. To minimize suffering, you could destroy humanity, as dead people cannot suffer. So, minimizing suffering does not include survival, but maximizing happiness does.
I woke up today at 11, considering I went to bed at 4:30 in the morning. I faced a dilemma: how much coffee should I drink? Usually, I have two double shots of espresso, but having coffee at noon might make it hard for me to sleep tonight. So, I decided to have only one double shot.
I was generating music with AI on Udio until 4:30 in the morning. Now all these songs are simultaneously earworming in my brain
I was taking a shower when one thought came to me: I think I am overfixated on marketing a non-existent game. It would be better to focus on making a good game and figure out the marketing later.
If I have a good game, it will also be easier to promote.
With the current approach of being present on social networks, I am losing a lot of time that I could spend working on the game instead of writing posts, engaging on Twitter, and making YouTube videos. Sometimes I enjoy it, but sometimes I force myself to do it.
I am leaning towards shifting my focus a bit more towards making games rather than on makeshift “marketing,” aka being present on social media.

Ok, I finally figured out how to be able to run almost all my Steam games on my laptop.
I have a quite unusual setup; I have two video cards on my laptop, one is Intel and the other is NVIDIA RTX 2070. I also have a third external video card, an NVIDIA RTX 3090, and almost everything runs on my external video card.
So the command line string to run Steam is this:

Text editors should do what is expected to do. If I type @ or :, it should not do anything unexpected. If I type for, it should not do any crazy thing. Notepad is pretty good at this. Yesterday, I tried to type an HTTP link in Slack, not sure how but I accidentally “fished” my colleagues. The link if you read was correct, but if you clicked on it, it directed you to a completely different place.
